How Hair Straightening Is Bad And Can Be The Cause Hair Loss

We’re attracted to the fashion magazines, and all the models who sport the look – professional whilst still looking sexy. And who can blame us? But although it is the craze to have perfectly clean cut style, there are reasons why hair straightening is bad and can cause hair loss, and many of us are oblivious to it.

We wake up every day with our hair in a mess of tangled snarls, and after showering, towel drying and blow drying, we pick up the straightener and apply all that heat to our delicate scalps. But as we do this, no one is aware of just how much damage this does.

Many people don’t know this, but by straightening each and every single day, you damage it immensely and can even risk baldness. Using a personal straightener (the kind that snaps like a beast’s jaw) everyday can be hazardous to it unless you cut it regularly. The amount of heat is drying it out and damaging it. A straightener can go up to a scorching 430 degrees Fahrenheit. Imagine putting that kind of heat to some shrubbery or a long strand of grass. The effects are the same on you, and that can lead to major split ends and hair loss.

The reason it will break is due to the fact that straighteners (or indeed any kind of heat applied to the scalp) thin the hair shaft and it dry out. This in turn causes breakages, and further and incessant use of a straightener can ultimately lead to tufts of it falling out. To solve this, use a deep conditioner in the shower, and also cut down on the amount of time you use your straightener each week.

But simply straightening with an iron in the privacy of your own home is not the only way of achieving that sheer and slick look. If you’re very unhappy with the state of your style, you can ask a hairdresser to chemically straighten your hair for you. This, however, can be even worse than straightening using heat.

Although hairdressers are professionals, there is still a risk that they can make errors. The effects of incorrectly applying chemical straightener to hair can be disastrous. It can lead to it being dried out and starved, and it may also lead to baldness, and chunks of it may begin to fall out.

Whatever your solution to taming that snarling mass on your head may be, you should at least be prudent of the consequences. It is okay to want to look your best, but sacrificing your future good looks are what you risk to look on top form now. The best solution may be to find solutions that aren’t as harsh as heat or chemicals are.

These are only some of the reasons why hair straightening is bad and can cause hair loss. It would be best to find a method to straighten that doesn’t involve heat or chemicals. If one of those is not available right now, then learn to love the look you were born with, it will always be in fashion your whole life.
